Bangladesh Barta: Central Executive Committee member of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Hamidur Rahman Azad has issued the following statement on 6th November, 2015 protesting and condemning the unjust arrest of Faridpur district’s Vanga Upazila’s Vice chairman and Upazila unit Jamaat Ameer Maulana Sarwar Hossain, Nagarkanda Upazila Jamaat Ameer Maulana Sohrab Hossen along with 15 other activists, Manikganj district’s Harirampur Upazila Jamaat Ameer Dr. Abdul Alim, Member of Rajbari district Jamaat Md. Munna and 8 Chhatrashibir activists from Jhinaidah district.
“The government is arresting them intentionally and caused harassment just because of their involvement with the Islamic movement. The government is arresting the leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami from the grassroots levels as a part of its conspiracy to make it a leaderless party. The movement of Jamaat-e-Islami cannot be checked by arresting the innocent leaders and workers of the party. The government is arresting the opposition activists just to stay in power unlawfully. The entire nation is in trouble due to misrule of the government. I am calling upon the countrymen to raise voice against the oppression and misrule of the government.
I am urging the authorities concerned to release all the detained leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami including Faridpur district’s Vanga Upazila’s Vice chairman and Upazila unit Jamaat Ameer Maulana Sarwar Hossain immediately.”
